Welcome to the ISP
The Salzburg Global Seminar offers week-long International Study Programs (ISP) for American undergraduates and faculty at its facility at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria. Programs are designed and offered for two different audiences – students and faculty members:
The ISP for undergraduates provides an intensive international experience for participants to explore issues of worldwide concern and to view them from a perspective both literally and figuratively outside the borders of the United States. Students develop the tools to be more discerning in their assessment of information pertaining to world affairs and to understand what it means to be a "global citizen."
The ISP for College Faculty and Administrators allows participants to explore the factors that support or constrain a comprehensive institutional approach to global education. Participants jointly develop strategies, and ways to implement them, that will bring broader international perspectives to their classrooms, campuses, and communities.
Where?The ISP is one part of the Salzburg Global Seminar's academic activities. Located at Schloss Leopoldskron, the Salzburg Global Seminar was established in 1947 and remains one of the world's foremost international, nonpartisan, educational organizations dedicated to the recognition and development of tomorrow's leaders.
The ISP takes place at Schloss Leopoldskron, home to the Salzburg Global Seminar. This 18th century baroque castle, together with the adjacent Meierhof, offers superb facilities including housing, meals in the Schloss' Marble Hall, extensive and up-to-date computer facilities, an historic library, lecture hall, and seminar rooms.

Why?In an age of new international challenges and tensions, the need for Americans to understand international affairs, to recognize cultural values other than their own, and to view world events from a variety of perspectives, has become increasingly critical.
Although many American undergraduates have opportunities to study and learn abroad, the vast majority lack such occasions or the time and means to enjoy them. The ISP allows colleges and universities to offer an intense study abroad opportunity to their students and a valuable professional development opportunity for faculty and administrators.

Faculty/administrator Sessions:
January 6 - 13, 2008 (Special Mellon Fellows Initiative for ACA and HBCU institutions)
July 1 - 8, 2008
July 13 - 20, 2008
The first date of each session is the day on which participants should arrive in Salzburg. The end date of each session is reserved solely for departures.
