EFL WORKSHOP TEACHING ENGLISH
FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES: LAW AND BUSINESS
August 20-29, 1996.
This workshop will concentrate on teacher training to develop skills and techniques for
effectively teaching English for Special Purposes. Professionals engaged in international
business and law increasingly need competence in technical English language in order to
function effectively during global exchanges. Emphasis will be placed on the use of
learner-centered, interactive multimedia materials to complement the use of printed
materials to teach English for special purposes to lawyers and business people. Attention
will also be given to other areas of ESP. All participants will have an opportunity to
explore the Internet for sources and materials related to teaching ESP courses. Various
compact disc and video materials will also be showcased. This session is intended for
teachers interested in improving ESP skills or in initiating ESP courses.
