This is a workshop to establish teacher training targets, to set up practical curricula for in-service courses, and to determine effective workshop techniques for motivating and assisting teachers to develop better methods of dealing with special classroom needs. In addition, this workshop will focus on developing teacher trainer skills. Special presentations will explore the principles, purposes and value of continuing education requirements and systematic in-service teacher training programs. Participants will have an opportunity to examine and use traditional as well as new sources of materials including multimedia, interactive materials and those that may be accessed from the Internet. This session will also explore the use of Digital Conferencing for teacher training by linking with one or more U.S. institutions using such equipment. The faculty includes Betty Soppelsa, Jeffra Flaitz and John Wheeler.
The movies shown as an evening activity in this workshop are Driving Miss Daisy and Mississippi Masala. A paper containing ideas on using film in the classroom is available, and includes questions and answers about movie production as well as.
