American Studies Center
Computer Facilities

The ASC is unique in that it contains its own computing facilities for faculty and participant use during the workshops.

The lab has 17 multimedia personal computer/ workstations, capable of using a variety of software, including sound and video. In addition, each computer is on a high speed network, allowing for full Internet access. Laser printers are also connected to this network to allow for printing needs.

Often these computer facilities are used to teach computer related skills and software. This may range from beginning computer use, electronic mail, using the Internet, to designing web sites.

Computer training is also greatly aided by the use of a digital/video projector used in the computer room.  The projector displays a computer screen image to the front of the room allowing participants to see an example of the instruction while getting a "hands on" experience working at the individual computer workstations.
